The architect Roberto Guillermo Gomes and CEO of MayDay, is the leader of the 2% for the Planet movement, which began in 2009.
There will be no scale solutions to end the triple scourge of hunger, extreme poverty and global warming, until all the governments of the planet approve this Green Solidarity Fund of 2% of the world's annual GDP.
From any point of view, a world system is incoherent, that already consumes 2% of global GDP in military spending, another 5% in corruption, another 2% in money laundering, another 2% in smoking, another 2% in drug trafficking and another 2% in mobile telephony (15% of the total GDP in superfluous expenses)... While refusing to contribute a 2% fund to Save the entire Planet... The UN Environment Program (UNEP) advises allocating 2% for the green economy… what are we waiting for?!
* UNEP indicated in 2010 that if each year 2% of world GDP were allocated to sustainable initiatives, the world economy would grow at the same rate as now, but without aggravating the depletion of resources and with a lower level of polluting emissions. See the report: "Towards a Green Economy: Pathways to Sustainable Development and Poverty Eradication".

With these funds it will be possible to allocate an annual budget of 500 billion US$ per year to end world hunger, pandemics and alleviate extreme poverty. It will also be possible to activate a planting program of 30 billion trees (kiri) per year to capture CO2 in the trunks to later bury them and return this greenhouse gas to the subsoil and return to 350 ppm free in the atmosphere. As well as switching to hydrogen cars, accelerating fusion reactors,
decontaminating the oceans, saving the Amazon, the Arctic and recovering fishing grounds, fighting global corruption, drug trafficking, trafficking and terrorism.
To manage the resources, a presidentialist Planetary Eco Government is proposed with responsibilities in ecological and global areas, controlled by a system of Global Direct Digital Democracy made up of world citizens, and advised by a Council of Sciences made up of scientists.
Because robotics will destroy the relationship between capital and labor, supplanting 80% of labor (2050), it is proposed to replace money with qualified time and leave behind the capital model. This will allow a minimum annuity for every citizen for life.
In a few more years the North Pole will completely thaw during the summers. The albedo effect will no longer be present and the waters of the Arctic Ocean will start to warm up, then the huge deposits of methane gas hydrates, 35 times more efficient than CO2 in the greenhouse effect, will start to be released from the seabed into the atmosphere. The global average temperature may rise up to 6º C and 12º C at both poles, with which the glaciers will thaw at an accelerated rate.

Electric cars are not the "golden solution" to the problem of Global Warming
The highest priority is to obtain the approval of the Solidarity Green Fund of 2% of the annual world GDP. For this we ask all our volunteers to request by note, by e-mail to their respective national Congresses, senators and deputies, in each country, the prompt approval of this project. Vote online and use all digital media to disseminate information, request the support of the population. Together, among all of us, we can manage to change and improve the world, end social injustice and global warming.
We are already on the edge of the precipice at all levels. Global warming is giving clear signs of acceleration.
The planet is in agony. Claim your immediate as active voluntary participation. Join us!
"The Earth, our home -says Maitreya-, is burning with the insatiable fire of greed, hyperconsumption, with the fire of overpopulation, it burns with oil, with gas and coal... it burns with deforestation and with the large-scale intensive agriculture… its effects are an alarming increase in extreme weather events: droughts and floods, record low and high temperatures, devastating forest fires, greater intensity and frequency of typhoons, accelerated melting of arctic and antarctic glaciers, slowing of the conveyor belt of the Atlantic Ocean…
Everything is on fire with deadly heat waves, desertification, major hurricanes and a sustained rise in sea level that will affect all island countries and coastal cities… Drinking water and food supplies will be lacking… Everything is on fire with millions of environmental refugees on the rise , which will cause social, political, economic and even military conflicts”.
The IPCC reported that Global Warming is accelerating faster than anticipated, so if we do not proceed to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions to zero there will be disastrous consequences for life on Earth for decades to come.
The current warming is already at an average of 1.1ºC above the pre-industrial temperature, something unprecedented during the last 3 million years, originating without a doubt in the burning of fossil hydrocarbons, under the pressure of the consumption of overpopulation, uncontrolled deforestation and massive intensive agriculture.
The acceleration of warming is alarming, if current emissions are not reduced, the global average temperature will reach and even exceed 2º C, with all the catastrophic consequences that this will entail, such as an increase in hurricanes, heat waves, droughts, an increase in sea level, lack of drinking water and decreased food production.
All will contribute to causing millions of environmental refugees that will press the affected countries with deep systemic crises. The possibility of a future happy life is fading with each new forest fire. Radical measures are urgently required or face dire consequences.
We think that everything will happen in the next generation when there is already a 30% increase in the degree of acidity of the oceans, affecting all marine life, the extinction of thousands of species and forest fires are increasing. We are living against the clock.
We are 8,000 million human beings (2023) and increasing, we sustain ourselves on a socioeconomic system based on oil, coal, gas, and consumption, within a constantly growing market that preys on nature and all animals . We are destroying the delicate balance of the entire ecosystem of the planet. We must move to renewable energy, plant new trees, billions of them, avoid deforestation, reduce consumption and adopt a vegetarian diet. But also to change profoundly internally and externally to change the socioeconomic model.
The problem is systemic, a global transformation is required at all levels and planes, change at an intersubjective level to return to live in harmony with nature. The western vision of the individual separated from his surroundings and environment and from other living beings and human beings, is the cause of egoic exacerbation, predation and overconsumption.
Global Warming is the voice of nature itself telling you "enough!" to the system of runaway capital and raises the need for us all to evolve towards a form of sustainable capital. And do it quickly and efficiently because we have little time left...
The World Meteorological Organization (WMO) warned that there is "a 40% probability that, in at least one of the next five years, the average annual temperature of the planet will temporarily exceed the lower limit of 1.5º C previously established".
"This threshold of 1.5°C is not a random number, but indicates the point at which the effects of the climate will be increasingly harmful not only for people, but for the entire planet," explained Professor Petteri Taalas. WMO Secretary General. In other words, we have at most 5 years left for the global situation to worsen. We need to apply radical measures now!
The Buddhist declaration on climate change to world leaders of October 29, 2015, highlights that:
1. To be guided by the moral dimensions of climate change as indicated in article 3 of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).
2. To accept the gradual abandonment of fossil fuels in favor of 100% renewable and clean energies.
3. To create the political will to close the emissions gap derived from the determined national commitments of the countries to ensure that the increase in global temperature is below 1.5 degrees Celsius, with respect to pre-industrial levels.
"Daily life can easily lead us to forget that we are inextricably linked to the natural world through every breath we take, the water we drink and the food we eat," said Lama Lobzang, Secretary of the International Buddhist Confederation (IBC). "Humanity must act on the root causes of this crisis, which is driven by greed, thoughtlessness and a lack of concern for the consequences of our actions."
According to Buddhist teachings, negative, irresponsible and unconscious behavior towards nature, preying on it in an uncontrolled way, will cause very negative effects in the short, medium and long term. It is precisely what is happening.
We are inextricably interconnected with everything, with nature, with the planet and the universe, everything we do externally has internal repercussions. Personal happiness is a direct result of the way we treat the environment. Thus, as a consequence of our insatiable greed and pollution, we will suffer untold waves of future suffering and pain due to our ignoble environmental recklessness.
The Dharma, duty or protection, teaches that human beings must love and respect their brothers, as well as animals, plants, all forms of life and ecosystems.
Right Action implies respecting all living beings, refraining from killing and harming them, helping other beings to achieve fulfillment and happiness. For the Right Livelihood, one must refrain from activities that harm others, such as arms trafficking, human trafficking, industries that kill animals, actions that affect the environment and harm the quality of life of all beings in the vicinity.
Right Thought concerns the ability to feel love for all beings and refrain from all violence, selfish attachment, ill will, hatred and cruelty. In this sense, the selfish capital system is a form of violence on the world and the cause of all depredation and negative effects, which contaminates society with overconsumption and all kinds of addictions, contradictions, scourges such as hunger and wars.
Buddhist monks vow not to kill animals or any being, protect the purity of water and respect the life of trees.
“The world is becoming smaller and smaller, more and more interdependent… today more than ever life must be characterized by a sense of Universal Responsibility not only from nation to nation and from human to human, but also between humans and other forms of life". Dalai Lama, 1987.
The three poisons: greed, hate, and ignorant delusion, are the feedback source of the overconsumption system that causes global warming. To solve the problem it is necessary to change the system.
All our industrial processes pollute the environment, so we have to start over from scratch, rethink technologies and rebuild civilization, making it sustainable and environmentally friendly.
We do this, or we go extinct...
